Saving a young girl’s leg.
The parents of a 9-year-old child contacted the MyChild’sCancer research team after their daughter’s doctors informed them that an amputation of her leg Is required as part of her treatment. Our team of professional researchers searched for an alternative treatment that didn’t require such a harsh outcome, which we found and was given to the girl. A year after this consult, this girl responded well to the alternate treatment plan, and is standing tall with two legs on the ground.
Giving hope to a 2-year-old boy.
A two-year-old boy in remission sadly relapsed after eight months with a very rare type of cancer. His mother reached out to MyChild’sCancer in her mission to find the best treatment for him. Our researchers tried to find a doctor or clinical trial, anywhere in the world, specializing in relapse of this type of cancer, but without luck. We decided to publish this story on our Facebook page, and ask the global community for life saving leads. This campaign reached over 40,000 people. A response came in from a woman in Germany who had a relapse of the same kind of cancer. She shared that an unexpected drug had helped her. We forwarded the treatment information to the mother who took it to the boy’s doctor. Her son has been taking this medication and responding well to it. This is a community connecting at its best. Saving an 18-year-old girl’s ability to walk.
An 18-year-old girl was diagnosed with a tumor in her spine, and the family had to make a decision whether or not to undergo a highly complex surgery with risks for major, lifelong complications. MyChild’sCancer researcher team reached out to two world experts who suggested an alternate treatment that included a specific kind of radiation that wasn’t available in her home
country. The family flew to New Jersey for proton therapy, and six months later she was cancer-free, with no irreversible damage to her internal organs because of the alternative treatment MyChild’sCancer found. She went back home to study for her high school final exams.
Beating back a Relapse.
A 12 y/o boy from Israel treated for brain tumor (Medulloblastoma) experienced a relapse. A member on our Brain Tumor Committee of world experts offered a treatment plan (Originally from Vienna) that apparently was never done before in Israel. It is a relatively new trial treatment that has good results in extending life expectancy. Since the child's doctors in Israel weren’t familiar with this treatment, our committee expert personally guided the Child's doctors on how to perform the treatment. In addition, he connected the Israeli hospital with the head of the new Protocol and made sure that the child will receive it as a compassionate treatment (at no cost) as soon as possible!
